Luxury gets a new address as the Phoenix rises in Chennai.

chennaiites now have an uber cool place to hang out in.The few weeks old Phoenix Market City in Velachery is an amazing gift . It’s shining, sparkling clean and while some store owners are still busy setting up their shop, the mall crazed have already started discovering the latest place.
Spread over a million sq. ft. Phoenix Market City houses 300-plus store brands, with four levels of shopping area and a food court, a basement as well as a multi-level car park,  an apartment complex, a theatre and a club. It is one of the premium malls in the city.
It is a  joint venture of Phoenix Mills and Sharyans Resources, and is the fourth in the series of Phoenix malls after Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru. It is a mix-up of shopping, dining, entertainment, art, architecture and design. This is a mall where people of Chennai would like to assemble. It’s where a day can be well spent.
So, what’s exciting about the mall? It brings to Chennai some of the biggest brands from across the country and the globe. The list includes…hold your breath…Mango, Manchester United, Superdry,Promod, Esbeda,Steve Madden and many others in addition to the already existing Lifestyle, Pantaloons, Global Desi, Charles & Keith, Aldo, MAC, Globus, and Indian apparel outlets such as Begum etc. There are electronic stores such as Access, Poorvika, home décor outlets, stores for new born babies and lots more. There is a good mix of shops for every age group in this mall.

Also, Chennai’s wait for its own Hard Rock Café can now end. The popular chain is scheduled to open in the next of couple of months. Spaghetti Kitchen, Nando’s, California Pizza Kitchen too will set up shop over here.
The food court has 11 counters set up by Moti Mahal Express, ID, KFC, Domino’s, Wow Momo, Nala’s Aappakadai, China Wall, Arabian Hut, Kailash Parbat, Fruit Punch and Kwality Walls.
This mall has been designed by Benoy, a Hong-Kong based company. It also believes in promoting art. They have sculptures by artists from all over India.

Sathyam Cinemas will launch their next theatre, titled Luxe, here. It will also house Chennai’s first IMAX theatre. The lobby looks like a glitzy night club in Paris. With black and white tiles, high ceiling, and 11 screens to choose from this theatre is bound to be lookout for.
It is certain that the mall will do well here because Chennai is a great market. This city is still very traditional, yet modern. It is true representation of modern India.
As of now only 130 stores are open. By March the mall should be fully functional and will also organise quite a few events.
Children can keep themselves amused at Fun City or at the Scary House.
With soo much on offer,no wonder namma chennaiites have already started flocking the mall!!

  2. There is every shop you could possible think of, all under one roof, from bloomingdales to Dior, just remember to leave enough time to look around. It has everything you need under one roof .Fine dining, casual dining, middle class shops, high end boutiques. This large mall has everything you could possibly want. It has lots of elevators and lifts.
Each floor compliments the retail outlets present by reflecting the wide array of beauty services and lifestyle products as well. Phoenix Marketcity has now comfortably established itself as the only destination to shop, dine, work, and relax at the spa - all at the same time! There's something for everybody. With the right mix of retail brands and wide range of services, Phoenix Marketcity shows much promise to elevate the Chennai shoppingexperience

  3. Phoenix Market City , as attractive as it sounds , and HUGE as it is offers very little outside of what we have already seen in Chennai . It seems like a good combination of all those things - theater, shopping complex , food court ,etc including the whole apartment complex thing just seems like a big good combo .

Apart from that exciting new things like IMAX and Hard Rock Cafe , international brands , Sathyam's all new theater indeed sound like a gift :D.

It will definitely become one of the most popular hang-outs for the chennaiites and soon will become more popular than already existing malls because of its grandeur and all the exciting things for the youth .

I personally am looking forward to the mall becoming fully functional with all the above said features . The look of the mall is amazing and its hard to miss .

As you have pointed out Manasi , with the good mix of shops , food , awesome movie experience and luxury this mall does make a stand of its own even though the concept may not be new .

  4. Well , we have got the phoenix mall in our city . Since we people have started to rely upon international brands as this shopping precinct houses a healthy number of international brands , and also 100% of fdi is already allowed in single brand retail , and gearing up ourselves with those brands has become a status signature , and well why not , they have gained respect , and more over they are also like our own nature , "westernised" . So , lets try grasping the fact that the permissable 51% investment of fdi is going to boost our economy anyways , and we still have the remaining 49% to house our products i beilieve , so is it too a bad deal . And when we talk that this would destruct our own market , then why are we all not using things and products, manufactured in our country . Why is an apple product preferred over our indian micromax products , well the answer lies beneath ourselves , quality and mental satisfaction . Malls have grown , our city has got asia's largest mall , so have the other shops closed , do they not exist any more , do we only buy things from mall ?? . Lets break out of the same cliche , and agree upon the fact , we need a change and only crazy things taughts and crazy people can welcome justifiable change.
